About Us
Cequel III is an investment and management firm, established in January 2002 by partners Jerry Kent, Howard Wood, and Dan Bergstein. Since then, the Cequel III team has been involved with the following enterprises.

CURRENT

  • Suddenlink Communications is the seventh largest cable operator in the United States, supporting the information, communication and entertainment demands of approximately 1.3 million residential customers and thousands of commercial customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, West Virginia, and elsewhere.
  • Cequel Data Centers was formed in June 2010 for the purpose of acquiring Colo4 and other data center properties.  Colo4 is a leading provider of carrier-neutral, data-center colocation services, with highly redundant power supplies, environmental controls, and other critical infrastructure support at a 68,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility in Dallas.
  • Excell Communications is one of the largest U.S. project firms serving the telecommunications industry in the Southeast and Midwest.  Services include site acquisition, engineering, environmental and regulatory compliance, general contracting, maintenance, construction and other project management.
PAST
  • AAT Communications Corp. was a privately held tower operator that Cequel III assumed management responsibilities for in May 2002.  Through a series of strategic acquisitions, new tower construction, and improved operating efficiencies, the Cequel III team dramatically expanded AAT's portfolio of owned sites and free cash flow. In April 2006, on behalf of its investors, Cequel III sold AAT to SBA Corp. for approximately $1 Billion.
  • Broadwing Communications. In June 2003, Cequel III partnered with the former Corvis Corporation to acquire Broadwing and its nationwide all-optical network from Cincinnati Bell.  Subsequently, Cequel III turned over management responsibilities to Broadwing's executive team, while maintaining a relationship with the company for the provision of longhaul voice, video, and data services to Suddenlink.   Broadwing was acquired by Level 3 Communications in 2007.
